Only good and not bad?

Shall I receive only good and not bad from the Hand of the Lord?

Job 2:9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still cling to your integrity [and your faith and trust in God, without blaming Him]? Curse God and die!” 10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the [spiritually] foolish women speaks [ignorant and oblivious to God’s will]. Shall we indeed accept [only] good from God and not [also] accept adversity and disaster?” In [spite of] all this Job did not sin with [words from] his lips.

This came to me as I sat on the edge of my bed at around 5am today, during a mega storm - with the conservatory roof off for repair!

Rain was thundering down and everything was soaked. I was a bit nonplussed [nonplussed generally means being so surprised or confused by something unexpected that you do not know what to say, think, or do. It stems from the Latin phrase non plus ("no more"), describing someone rendered entirely speechless.]

Thankfully, my nearest and dearest was not so mentally hamstrung! He was out quickly, in his undies, helping our neighbour to put tarpaulins on the roof and extract some of the water damage.

Meanwhile, back in the bedroom - the Holy Spirit picked out just the right Scripture for the occasion and I heartily agree. Christians are not exempt from trouble - indeed Jesus said:

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] John 16:33

If some situation has hit you like a runaway truck, be of good cheer, Jesus has overcome every such issue on the Cross and peace, hope and help are on the way.

Listen for that "still small voice" to point you in the right direction and trust like mad!
