Crushed heads

Psalm 68:21 NIV

Surely God will crush the heads of His enemies, the hairy crowns of those who go on in their sins.

What a stark and seemingly cruel prophecy here in this Psalm. Why is it written? What possible cause could there be for the Lord to act so radically?

Here's a thought:

How many millions of times has the Lord had to watch as an abortionist crushes the head of a baby in the womb in order to extract every trace of the foetal body?

"In a Dilation and Evacuation (D&E) procedure, doctors use a surgical instrument called a Bierer forceps, which has serrated rows of teeth to grip dense tissue [1]. The surgeon uses these forceps to grasp the fetal skull and compress (crush) it so it can pass through the cervix [1]. This compression causes the skull to collapse, releasing the contents of the head, including the brain tissue [1]."

Roughly (though no exact records are kept) 11 million "crushings" like this take place every year globally. Tragically, the UK and USA were responsible for developing this fatal fetal routine.

We gasp at the enormity of the Holocaust in WW2 and so we should, but this silent slaughter goes on "ad infinitum" and is sanitised by a sophisticated use of words.

There is none so vulnerable and helpless as a baby growing in the womb (God's workshop).

Not one abortion goes unnoticed by the Creator.

He sees the vicious destruction of each one.

When these murders go on unchecked, the Lord, in His righteousness, must avenge their blood. Yes, innocent blood does have a voice!

Genesis 4:10 NIV

The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground.

The verse in Psalm 68 is a promise that will be fulfilled. Those that are callously fixed on asserting that abortion is a woman's right to choose will one day face the Sovereign Lord whom they have defied and ignored.

For surely we were all once a beloved "cluster of cells" infinitely valuable to God.
