For Zion's sake

Isaiah 62:1-7 NKJV

For Zion's sake I will not hold My peace, And for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, And her salvation as a lamp that burns. [2] The Gentiles shall see your righteousness, And all kings your glory. You shall be called by a new name, Which the mouth of the LORD will name. [3] You shall also be a crown of glory In the hand of the LORD, And a royal diadem In the hand of your God. [4] You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; For the LORD delights in you, And your land shall be married. [5] For as a young man marries a virgin, So shall your sons marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So shall your God rejoice over you. [6] I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent, [7] And give Him no rest till He establishes And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

The word Zion has become a four letter word tantarmount to using a curse.

We see students on university campuses driving Jewish students into hiding and inexplicably calling them terrible names.

But not so in the Lord's Holy Word. Read the scriptures and the word Zion is used time and time again by God Himself.

He is determined to make Zion, particularly Jerusalem, a praise in the earth.

Yet what is it now? For many nations, at least the leaders of my nation, it has become a pariah state. They do not cease to pour shame upon Israel and decry its legitimacy.

Well, there is a promise from God about this behaviour:

Isaiah 60:12 NKJV

For the nation and kingdom which will not serve you shall perish, And those nations shall be utterly ruined.

We should tremble in fear of what our leaders are bringing on this country and pray God will remove them from power as swiftly as possible before disaster overtakes us.

Just yesterday we saw the end game for hatred of Israel. A pilot was willing to stab his fellow pilot in order to attempt to crash a plane with Israelis on board. Thankfully he was thwarted by those on board - a miracle aided by the Lord.

Only satan can inspire such murderous acts, the evil one has been goading people since the dawn of history to perform murder and destruction against the Hebrews - from Pharaoh to Hitler to Hamas and Iran.

And now many other nations have taken up the demonic cudgel against Israel.

It will come to nothing however becomes the Lord has spoken and it is His Word that will prevail.

As Christians we need to realise this and take a stand.

Remember the likes of Betsie and Corrie Ten Boom who stood up for the Jews in Nazi occupied Holland. They are brilliant examples of what it means to believe and stand on God's Word - for Zion's sake!
