The "bloody" conversation

Hebrews 12:22-24 NIV

But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, [23] to the church of the Firstborn, whose names are written in Heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, [24] to Jesus the Mediator of a New Covenant, and to the sprinkled Blood that speaks a better Word than the blood of Abel.

Yesterday a crowd gathered to demand justice for Henry Nowak. He had been savagely stabbed 5 times by a wayward Sikh, who had falsely accused him of racism. As his lungs filled with his own blood, the police ignored Henry's pleas for help, callously handcuffing his hands behind his back. Finally, too late, they called an ambulance - he had suffocated on his own blood at the age of 18!

There's a cry that goes up from every cruel murder, a cry for vengeance - for things to be put right. What a great roar and bellowing for justice emanating back from the aeons of time until now: the cry of innocent blood.

Then came Jesus pouring out the most purely innocent Blood of all. His Blood spoke and still is speaking today in answer to that tumultuous call for vengeance.

It is a "bloody" cosmic conversation - but Jesus' Blood speaks louder, stronger and for all time into eternity.

"Vengeance is Mine" says the Lord Deuteronomy 32:35 NKJV

Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; Their foot shall slip in due time; For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things to come hasten upon them.'

Jesus' shed Blood is the answer to all angry demands for vengeance, because His vicarious punishment was the just death penalty for all crimes committed past, present and future!

That is truly, deeply, divinely astonishing! But the Supreme Court of Heaven recognises this ultimate Sacrifice.

It doesn't mean that there should be no earthly punishment for crimes here on Earth. It is right to mete out just penalties based on the facts.

However, many convicted prisoners have found forgiveness through Jesus' Blood whilst legally incarcerated and have gone on to have a brand new life in Him - totally transformed.

In each trial and injustice we face, we must let Jesus' Blood speak first before we hear the cry for vengeance. For we all are guilty in some way, shape or form.

Romans 12:19 NKJV

Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord.

Surely Jesus repaid justly, in full for every single wrong by His shed Blood:

the Bloody sweat of Gethsemane for thought crimes;

the bloody lashings on His back for violent crimes;

and, every other committed evil was justly punished entirely, absolutely and forever!

Hear the Voice of His Precious Blood above all others and apply it personally to your own heart and to others.

Crushed heads

Psalm 68:21 NIV Surely God will crush the heads of His enemies, the hairy crowns of those who go on in their sins. What a stark and seemingly cruel prophecy here in this Psalm. Why is it written? What
