Psalm 105:7-11 NKJV

He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth. [8] He remembers His Covenant forever, The Word which He commanded, for a thousand generations, [9] The Covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac, [10] And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel as an everlasting Covenant, [11] Saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan As the allotment of your inheritance"

Why is Israel called "The Promised Land"? Because the Lord made a Covenant with Abraham, Isaac & Jacob - an unbreakable promise that the Land belongs to Israel "forever" verse 8.

No matter who divides it up and claims it as their own, it is God's gift to His Chosen people.

Yes, they were exiled and seemingly pushed out for good by invaders, but God, our God, has not forgotten His solemn Vow that He gave to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Protest all you like with violent threats and actions - terrorise the Hebrew people, revile them all you want, but the Lord's Promise stands. He is faithful to His Word!

You will see it, in glaring technicolour glory.

We've seen the "trailer" as it were in 1948 with the UN voting a tiny slither of that Promised Land into existence after 2,000 years.

Then, after the Six Day War in 1967, the Golan and Jerusalem was regained.

Yet, there is still some way to go. Study the ancient boundaries of Canaan on a map!

So, when politicians rage at Israel for building homes in Judea and Samaria, they're not raging at an earthly government, but at the Sovereign Lord, whose "judgements are in all the earth!"

As followers of Jesus, we should cherish this promise too.

To quote: "If God is through with the Jew, how secure are you?"

God keeps His Promises.

I've just finished the portion of the Bible using this Psalm as the wisdom portion. Yet the explanation did not tread on any toes and claim the promise for

Israel.

No, rather they spoke of it nebulously, not wanting to offend current global trends.

However, the Lord isn't so vague, He stands by His Covenant forever.

But a gift isn't something to arrogantly boast about. It is something to humbly accept, giving glory and thanks to the Giver.
