Veil of separation

Exodus 26:33 NKJV

And you shall hang the veil from the clasps. Then you shall bring the ark of the Testimony in there, behind the veil. The veil shall be a divider for you between the holy place and the Most Holy.

Most of us don't need convincing to realise we aren't worthy to stand face to face with the Lord. Instinctively, we realise that He is Holy and our lives are full of selfishness and sin.

So, in the Old Testament we see the Lord establishing a veil between Him and the people.

The veil meant that people could live more comfortably being apart from that Holy Presence!

That separation existed until Jesus came as both Priest and Sacrifice. At the moment of His death on the Cross, the veil was torn from top to bottom.

Mark 15:37-38 NKJV

And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last. [38] Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

Note it was from top to bottom meaning that it was the Lord who did the tearing.

Jesus' perfect sacrifice tore away the separation that had been in place since the fatal fall of Adam and Eve.

God never wanted to be apart from us, but our fallen nature kept us behind that veil.

Ephesians 2:14-18 NKJV

For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, [15] having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, [16] and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. [17] And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. [18] For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

So, you and I rely on what He has done, not what we do.

It's amazing.

Yet, relying on the Law of Moses, keeps a veil across our heart.

2 Corinthians 3:15-16 NKJV

But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. [16] Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

Only turning to Jesus removes that separation veil.

It seems too good to be true, but it's not.

The moment I turn to Jesus and admit my sin, I'm saved and can enter in to that new and living way.

Hebrews 10:19-22 NKJV

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, [20] by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, [21] and having a High Priest over the house of God, [22] let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

Thank You, Heavenly Father, that I'm no longer separated from You because of Jesus. I'm renewed and washed in His precious blood. I'm eternally ever grateful.
