Romans 7:18-25 NKJV

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. [19] For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. [20] Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. [21] I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. [22] For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. [23] But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. [24] O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? [25] I thank God-through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

Yesterday I had what I call a "Romans 7" day. I was grumpy, nasty and horrible for no good reason.

I ended up feeling all knotted in my spirit with negative emotions swirling around in my being.

The Holy Spirit in me was grieved and quenched...

Really, I could say with Paul: "O wretched person that I am, who will deliver me from this body of death?"

Thankfully, the chapter ends with an answer to the question "who will deliver me?" Certainly I can't deliver myself.

Thank God, through Jesus Christ our Lord and blessed Saviour, I am gloriously, eternally forgiven and saved.

Yesterday's aberration, sadly, won't be the only "Romans 7" day I ever experience, but after it comes the wonderful, freeing, liberation of Romans 8:

Romans 8:1-2,6 NKJV

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. [2] For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. [6] For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Lord Jesus let Your Blood plead for me and forgive me for dwelling in the mire of selfishness yesterday.

Wash me, cleanse me in the inner being:

ree

Psalm 51:10-12 NKJV

Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. [11] Do not cast me away from Your Presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. [12] Restore to me the joy of Your Salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.

Holy Spirit I'm so sorry that I hurt You and made You sad, marring the image of Jesus in my life.

"Return, O Holy Dove, return,

sweet Messenger of rest;

I hate the sins that made You mourn,

and drove You from my breast."
