Isaiah 40:3-8 NKJV
The voice of one crying in the wilderness: "Prepare the way of the LORD; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God. [4] Every valley shall be exalted And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough places smooth; [5] The glory of the LORD shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken." [6] The voice said, "Cry out!" And he said, "What shall I cry?" "All flesh is grass, And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. [7] The grass withers, the flower fades, Because the breath of the LORD blows upon it; Surely the people are grass. [8] The grass withers, the flower fades, But the Word of our God stands forever."
John the Baptist had a singular voice and a message that resonated because it stood out from the crowd and proclaimed get ready for the Lord.
That meant repentance, turning away from self and turning back to the Lord.
That message was preparing the way for Jesus' first appearance.
John 1:6-9 NKJV
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. [7] This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. [8] He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. [9] That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
We are now on the cusp of Jesus' Return and the same message should be ringing out "prepare the Way of the Lord" - turn around, have a change of heart and mind. Get ready, don't ignore God's call.
Read carefully the prophecy and you will see that it is yet to be fulfilled:
Isaiah 40:5 NKJV
The glory of the LORD shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."
Has all flesh seen the glory of the Lord together, all at once?
No, it is a future event that Jesus spoke of:
Matthew 24:27,30 NKJV
For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. [30] Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Are you ready? Or, will you be one who mourns because you ignored that singular Voice of the Lord?
