Be a light-bearer

Romans 13:10-14 NKJV

Love does no harm to a neighbour; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. [11] And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our Salvation is nearer than when we first believed. [12] The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of Light. [13] Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. [14] But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

How "light" am I? Not weight wise, of course,, but how much do I shine out for Jesus?

Have I put on the "armour of light"?

Reading this passage it seems as if it's all about love - loving our neighbour as we do our self - that's the root of it.

Darkness is anything that is anti-love, putting self above the interests of others, making my ego centre stage - what I want, desire and crave.

That is what made Lucifer (aka Satan, the Devil) fall. He was an angelic light bearer, until his ego took over. He wanted to exalt himself instead of God.

Isaiah 14:12-15 NKJV

"How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! [13] For you have said in your heart: 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; [14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.' [15] Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.

When I exalt myself, I play into Satan's hands and am diverted into darkness and away from Yeshua's Kingdom of Light.

We're all urged to "put on Jesus" who is the Light of the world - HE is to be our armour, our protection from all darkness.

John 9:5 NKJV

As long as I am in the world, I Am the Light of the world."

In this week of Halloween where darkness is foolishly relished and even celebrated, especially by small children, let is shine out the Truth and have nothing to do with exalting the evil one.

Be a light-bearer - pointing people to Jesus through our sacrificial love.

I'm gonna let it shine!

Even one little candle breaks the darkness....

I may not be a mighty lighthouse, I may be just a small handtorch but I do make a difference if I shine out for Jesus!

Matthew 5:16 NKJV

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
