Comforted in Jerusalem

Isaiah 66:10-13 NKJV

"Rejoice with Jerusalem, And be glad with her, all you who love her; Rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn for her; [11] That you may feed and be satisfied With the consolation of her bosom, That you may drink deeply and be delighted With the abundance of her glory." [12] For thus says the LORD: "Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, And the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream. Then you shall feed; On her sides shall you be carried, And be dandled on her knees. [13] As one whom his mother comforts, So I will comfort you; And you shall be comforted in Jerusalem."

C'mon, search your memory... who remembers being breast fed or dandled on mum's knees?

For some it may be hidden in the midst of time or beyond the reach of conscious mind, but the Lord is painting a scene we've all observed.

After a baby has cried (or bawled) with hunger - then a mum picks up the babe in her arms and feeds it at her breast.

It's a very intimate experience -and a consoling one - the crying ceases and peace is restored.

That is the future comfort to be found in Jerusalem promised by the Lord Himself.

At present Jerusalem is a "heavy boundary stone" which the nations are trying to divide and move.

Most nations don't even recognise it as Israel's capital, choosing rather Tel Aviv for their embassies.

Yet Jerusalem is the destined venue for God's Comfort.

There He has chosen to console His people and bring eternal peace.

Psalm 122:6-9 NKJV

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you. [7] Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces." [8] For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, "Peace be within you." [9] Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good.
