Shade

Psalm 91:1 NKJV

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

This long hot summer has found me constantly looking for shade. Anything that casts a shadow from the sun is so welcome.

Trees are fantastic providers of shade, spreading out their branches casting a shady shadow in which to walk.

There's a "tree" in the spiritual realm which brings blessed relief to our souls.

The precious Cross of Jesus provides the ultimate place to hide from guilt, shame and condemnation. As long as we walk under its blessed shadow, we won't be burned by the flames our fallen nature.

The Lord has provided the only place to find respite from the burning rays of guilt and the scorching heat of sin's shame.

"Beneath the cross of Jesus

I fain would take my stand;

The shadow of a mighty rock

Within a weary land;

A home within the wilderness,

A rest upon the way,

From burns beneath the noontide heat

And burdens of the day."

If there's just one thing to learn then let it be this:

1 Corinthians 2:2 NKJV

For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

Let that blessed shadow of The Cross ever be my shade in this life and the world to come.
