Coming to nothing

1 Corinthians 2:6-8 NKJV

However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. [7] But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, [8] which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

I say a hearty "hallelujah" to this promise that the puffed up rulers of this world, who are so seemingly powerful and full of themselves, are "coming to nothing!"

Just a few short weeks ago, Keir Starmer boasted about leading the Labour Party into the next election. Well, how did that turn out?

His power, wielded so unjustly and in malign partisanship, has evaporated before his very eyes! Now another stands in his stead.

Still, he has left a trail of destruction in his wake - innocent folk have died or are still in prison - bad laws have been passed which need to be revoked.

There are many such tyrannical leaders who are in the process of "coming to nothing"!

Believers in Jesus, understand this:

Those who are wise in their own eyes God despises.

True wisdom comes from realising how worthless is human knowledge and power.

Isaiah 66:2 CSB

My Hand made all these things, and so they all came into being. This is the LORD's declaration. I will look favorably on this kind of person: one who is humble, submissive in spirit, and trembles at My Word.

Be encouraged as you observe what's happening in this world. God has His Plan to destroy the wisdom of the so-called wise:

1 Corinthians 1:19-20 CSB

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the intelligence of the intelligent. [20] Where is the one who is wise? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn't God made the world's wisdom foolish?

Be truly glad if you see yourself as nothing before the Lord for that is true wisdom.
