Psalm 19:10 NLT

They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb.

Your words were found, and I ate them; and Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart
Your words were found, and I ate them; and Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart

Here's a good question that "cuts to the chase":

What do I desire most, deep in my soul?

What do I value above all else?

Is it money, treasures, material wealth? Is it achievement in a career or fame?

All these pursuits are transitory and can be snatched away in a moment.

The football world is mourning the tragic death of Diogo Jota - a young man who had it all - fame, success, a happy family and wealth.

Yet it all disappeared in a flash, when his car tyre burst and he and his brother were burnt to death in the subsequent fatal crash!

His treasures and all that he valued were gone and he had to face eternity stripped of everything he had gained on earth.

How right was Job when he said:

Job 1:21 NKJV

"Naked I came from my mother's womb, And naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD."

Job was a wealthy man, but, when he lost it all, his treasure and value remained in God.

I hope and pray that this was the case with Diogo and his brother.

Placing Jesus as the highest value and priority will never disappoint and will last for eternity.

To treasure Jesus is to value His Word above all other words and make them the first desire in the heart.

Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; [20] but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. [21] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
