Destroying foundations

Psalm 11:3 NKJV

If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?

A couple of days ago a court case in Finland took a mighty sledgehammer to the foundations of free speech:

"In a narrow 3–2 decision, the Finnish Supreme Court has found parliamentarian Päivi Räsänen guilty of “hate speech” on one charge relating to the expression of her beliefs on marriage and sexual ethics in a 20-year-old church pamphlet.

The long serving parliamentarian and former Minister of the Interior has been convicted for “hate speech” under a section of the Finnish criminal code titled “war crimes and crimes against humanity.” The medical doctor and grandmother of 12 was tried in early 2022 and again in 2023 for expressing her beliefs in a 2019 tweet, which included a Bible verse, in addition to a 2019 radio debate and 2004 church booklet."

This result means, now, in Finland, probably in the rest of Europe, to stand for Biblical values ordained by God from the beginning, is criminal!

Couple that with the decriminalisation of abortion up to birth by the mother and the upcoming assisted dying bill, what have we come to?

This Psalm echoes the cry of my heart - "what can the righteous do?"

We must continue to speak the truth in love and not cowtail to the angry diatribes of the mockers.

We must continue to assert Jesus' message to build on the Rock of His Truth.

Psalm 11:1-7 NKJV

In the LORD I put my trust; How can you say to my soul, "Flee as a bird to your mountain"? [2] For look! The wicked bend their bow, They make ready their arrow on the string, That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. [3] If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do? [4] The LORD is in His holy temple, The LORD's throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men. [5] The LORD tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates. [6] Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind Shall be the portion of their cup. [7] For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.

Always remember God is still in control. At present He is testing our resolve not to back down and keep speaking up. But He WILL act and when He does there's no one who will stand against Him.
