Ephesians 1:17-18 AMPC
[For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him, [18] By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the Hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones)....
I love this version of verse 18, where it states that our hearts have eyes!
Of course, not physical ones, but there's something so different about the way we come to see the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus.
It has nothing to do with intelligence, but everything to do with the Holy Spirit flicking on the "Light Switch" that reveals Jesus is "in the room".
Many atheists can quote chapter and verse much more adeptly than some Believers, but their eyes are covered with unbelieving blinkers.
What did Jesus say about this:
Matthew 11:25 TPT
Then Jesus exclaimed, "Father, thank You, for You are Lord, the Supreme Ruler over Heaven and Earth! And You have hidden the great revelation of Your Authority from those who are proud and wise in their own eyes. Instead, You have shared it with these who humble themselves.
Come to the Lord with a proud heart and you'll see nothing, but come as a needy soul and you'll be flooded with light, illumined with salvation in the power of the Holy Spirit.
As these days grow ever darker, may we have our hearts flooded with the glorious Light of Jesus. To look beyond this material world to the coming Kingdom of Christ.
He will illumine everything in the new world:
Revelation 22:1,3-5 NLT
Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the Throne of God and of the Lamb. [3] No longer will there be a curse upon anything. For the Throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and His servants will worship Him. [4] And they will see His face, and His name will be written on their foreheads. [5] And there will be no night there-no need for lamps or sun-for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.
I pray that the Holy Spirit will flood you with light today, so you can see with the eyes of your heart too!
