Psalm 112

Praise the Lord.

Blessed are those who fear the Lord,    who find great delight in his commands.

2 Their children will be mighty in the land;    the generation of the upright will be blessed.3 Wealth and riches are in their houses,    and their righteousness endures forever.4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,    for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.5 Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,    who conduct their affairs with justice.

I must have read this Psalm 100s of times, but it came out brand new this morning, like I'd never seen it before.

Tragic times ARE upon us, difficulties surround us left, right and centre, it's true.

Yet the Lord turned my focus toward His Word and the precious promises contained for His people.

Basing everyday life in Jesus and His Way of being and doing has massive life sustaining consequences laid out plainly in this Psalm.

We are promised provision, prosperity and protection.

The one verse that particularly stood out in technicolour glory for me is:

4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.

I say to my soul, "don't fear the darkness of these times", God has promised that light WILL dawn if we keep being generous and kind in the midst of scarcity.

What a precious promise to cling to, a sword to fight off fear of lack!

Dawn is coming.

Have you ever seen the night hold off the sunrise?
