Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks

Do you ever get surprised by yourself? I know I do!

Just when I think I'm over some persistent fault - boom, it hits again and I'm on my knees again, begging for forgiveness...

I echo Paul's heart cry:

Romans 7:24 NLT

Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?

There is so much hidden away in a person's heart [including yours truly] with dubious mixed motives...

Jeremiah 17:9-10 NLT

"The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? [10] But I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve."

Only God knows what's truly in our hearts.

Yesterday, a longstanding friend told me that I was a closed book, that he didn't really know what's going on with me. I was shocked as I thought I had been really open with him over the years.

Being an introvert, I guess, a lot of me lies hidden away and I don't even recognise it!

Thankfully, the Lord knows me and reads my heart as an open book. He too is the only one able to deliver me from those hidden faults buried deep in my spirit.

Romans 7:24-25 NLT

Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? [25] Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.

As the old hymn says:

"My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus' Blood and righteousness

I dare not trust the sweetest frame

But wholly lean on Jesus' name"

Friend, if you are heartily sick of yourself, fed up of how you're constantly failing and letting yourself down, turn to the only One who IS the answer - the Way, the Truth and the Life. Give yourself totally over to Him who alone brings order out of chaos.
