Psalm 61:1-5 NKJV

Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. [2] From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. [3] For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. [4] I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah [5] For You, O God, have heard my vows; You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your Name.

Hands up who has ever felt overwhelmed by some situation or someone or some opposition?

We ALL have!

So this Psalm speaks into every vulnerable soul thus exposed.

Hallelujah for these words which mirror the cry of our own heart.

It starts with a desperate plea for God to listen. Prayer comes right into focus when we're in a tight spot - we MUST get the Lord's attention!

Wherever we are, we can call upon the Lord - from our sick bed, our computer desk, our school playground, even a tunnel in Gaza.

There is no situation that is impervious to a cry to God from the heart.

Yes, we may be at the end of our tether, but that is where we experience the Divine deliverance.

Prayer takes us to that Strong Tower of refuge from the enemy.

As I turn away from my problems (personal and global) and run to the Rock that is higher than I am, I find the security of those who "fear" the Name of the Lord.

Jesus stood in the way of every vile accusation of the enemy when He hung on the Cross - He took the onslaught, the blows, the punishments that should've rightly fallen on me, you, us!

He towers above every principality and power reigned against us when we trust in His Name - the precious, peerless Name of Jesus.

Run to the Rock that is higher than anything you are facing!
