Identify in Christ

Psalm 62:5-8 NLT

Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my Hope is in Him. [6] He alone is my Rock and my Salvation, my Fortress where I will not be shaken. [7] My victory and honour come from God alone. He is my Refuge, a Rock where no enemy can reach me. [8] O my people, trust in Him at all times. Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our Refuge. Interlude

We are all such vulnerable creatures, easily depressed and suppressed. We shuffle around looking for identity, somewhere to anchor our soul.

Some identify with a political party, a nationality, a football team, a school or a qualification. Still others find their meaning in a religion or a bank balance.

All of these reasons are like ladders leaning up against the wrong buildings.

There is no security in any identity found outside of Jesus - none at all.

On Saturday the Unite the Kingdom rally in London brought out many who wanted to identify with their country, their flag and find security in it.

However, others raised the Cross of Jesus and distinctively identified with Him.

What good will a national flag do me when I die? It is just something to be draped on a coffin!

To be fair, the message from the stage urged the people to return to our Christian roots and discover that meaning in Jesus.

Because a living, breathing relationship with Jesus Christ is absolute identity.

Knowing Him and being known by Him, that's the identity that lasts for eternity - the eternal NOW!

Colossians 3:1-4 NLT

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of Heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honour at God's right hand. [2] Think about the things of Heaven, not the things of earth. [3] For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. [4] And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all His Glory.

Many will disparage and hate you and me because we dare to identify with Christ. But, be unmoved, stay on track.

Be so happy to be hidden away in Jesus. He has and will always provide, guide and protect His own. Be proud to identify with Him.

John 10:14-15 NLT

"I Am the Good Shepherd; I know My own sheep, and they know Me, [15] just as My Father knows Me and I know the Father. So I sacrifice My Life for the sheep.
