Making things right!
Isaiah 6:5-7 NLT
Then I said, "It's all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the LORD of Heaven's Armies." [6] Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. [7] He touched my lips with it and said, "See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven."
How often do I wish I could unsay cruel words or undo selfish actions? How often do I want to turn back time and make things right?
But, truth be told, I can't!
I have to sit in the morass of my own making. It shrivels up my pride and reveals my utter helplessness.
Isaiah felt this when face to face with the Presence of the Lord.
He sensed the dirtiness of his words and those of his friends too.
Peter had a similar experience when encountering Jesus' miraculous powers:
Luke 5:8 NLT
When Simon Peter realised what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, "Oh, Lord, please leave me-I'm such a sinful man."
In the midst of our spiritual bankruptcy comes Jesus and He has the power of forgiveness - divine forgiveness...
Imagine being in His physical Presence and hearing those priceless words "your sins are forgiven".
Matthew 9:2 NLT
Some people brought to Him a paralyzed man on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, "Be encouraged, My child! Your sins are forgiven."
Well, it didn't sit right with the religious guys in Nazareth - they accused Him of blasphemy - "what right has this carpenter's son to pronounce forgiveness" they said!
But, "Hallelujah" for this blessed authority. Jesus makes things right retrospectively.
He takes away the paralysis of guilt and sets us on our feet again.
Lately the Lord has been walking me through the things that He has forgiven in my life. It's very humbling and has magnified the power of the Cross in my life.

More and more I see my own wickedness and helplessness and my absolute reliance on Christ's atoning sacrifice.
Yes, Jesus makes things right.
Isaiah 61:10 NKJV
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
"When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride."
