John 1:16-17 AMPC

For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favour upon favour and gift [heaped] upon gift. [17] For while the Law was given through Moses, grace ( unearned, undeserved favour and spiritual blessing) and truth came through Jesus Christ.

John 1:16-17 TPT

And now out of His fullness we are fulfilled! And from Him we receive grace heaped upon more grace! [17] Moses gave us the Law, but Jesus, the Anointed One, unveils truth wrapped in tender mercy.

Layers of grace are the building blocks that make up Salvation.

It's nothing to do with the Law and everything to do with the grace and mercy bestowed on us individually straight from the heart of Jesus.

Yes, looking back through the years, I can see the Lord's multi-layered grace upon grace being poured out on my life - intervening, guiding, protecting and providing in so many ways.

The life that I live is by His bountiful, amazing grace.

There's no room for any kind of self aggrandisement - only Jesus takes the credit for anything good emanating from my life.

Romans 7:18 NLT

And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can't.

Someone recently told me: "I'm a good person, I will stand in front of God and declare that I'm good and take His justice. I don't need His grace!"

That made me shudder inside.

How many people feel the same way as that?

That self satisfied feeling will melt away when our life record is revealed before God....

Revelation 20:11-15 NLT

And I saw a great white throne and the One sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from His Presence, but they found no place to hide. [12] I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God's throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. [13] The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds. [14] Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. [15] And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Here we see that there are layers of death - with the second death being far worse than the first one.

If I don't accept the layers of Jesus' grace upon grace and find my name written in the Book of Life, then the alternative is damnation.

The choice is before each one of us - make the right one! Choose the grace of Jesus.
