Mountain messengers

Isaiah 52:7-8 NLT

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns! [8] The watchmen shout and sing with joy, for before their very eyes they see the LORD returning to Jerusalem.

The older ones, among whom I am, will remember the hymn based on this passage and singing "Our God reigns" with great gusto and arms raised in praise.

Looking at my feet, I don't count them as very beautiful to say the least - but God can make them so - when I carry the Good News of Jesus to sin-weary souls.

Today, in this strife ridden world, who doesn't want peace and salvation?

Who doesn't want some messenger bearing that Good News when we sit in a mess of our own making?

Do you know someone with a mountainous mess in their lives? Or, someone with a gorge of grief weighing them down, or a gaping chasm of terminal illness facing them?

Then, be a messenger on their particular mountain range - make your feet beautiful with the gospel of Jesus.

His nail-scarred feet will tread on their mountains as we share in prayer and care.

But, most of all, this passage speaks prophetically of Jesus' Triumphant Return to Jerusalem...

He's on His Way! Get ready!
