Deuteronomy 1:3-8 NKJV

Now it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke to the children of Israel according to all that the LORD had given him as commandments to them, [4] after he had killed Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, who dwelt at Ashtaroth in Edrei. [5] On this side of the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses began to explain this law, saying, [6] "The LORD our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: 'You have dwelt long enough at this mountain. [7] Turn and take your journey, and go to the mountains of the Amorites, to all the neighboring places in the plain, in the mountains and in the lowland, in the South and on the seacoast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates. [8] See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers-to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob-to give to them and their descendants after them.'

There's a time of rest and absorbing God's Word, after, there's a time for action - a time to claim the "Promised Land" and enter into the battle.

God says to His people: "Don't just sit there, enter in to what I've promised you!"

The mountains of the Amorites were inhabited by a people large in stature, making g it a really daunting battle to face. Perhaps it was easier to dwell where they were and be at peace! But God had other plans set before His people.

There are other mountains to conquer for us too. You might have come to rest for a while, but there's always another mountain ahead that needs to be dealt with.

Mountains of doubt, fear, grief, loss, sickness and temptation - all stand in the way on our journey with Jesus - each one has to be overcome in some way, shape or form.

Life is full of challenges and new horizons, it can seem very daunting at times, or, inspiring.

God showed His people the Promised Land, told them to enter in and possess it.

Today we have the Promised Land of a new life in Jesus - a new heart and an inheritance to enable us to go forward into battle against the mountains of evil in this world.

I say to myself: "don't just sit there and gaze at it, enter in!"

Acts 1:10-11 NKJV

And while they looked steadfastly toward Heaven as Jesus went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, [11] who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into Heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into Heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into Heaven."
