Lamentations 3:19-26 NLT
The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words. [20] I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. [21] Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: [22] The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. [23] Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning. [24] I say to myself, "The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in Him!" [25] The LORD is good to those who depend on Him, to those who search for Him. [26] So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD.
My nearest and dearest has a childhood friend who has terminal cancer. He has been suffering for a long time.
Yesterday he received a WhatsApp message from him in response to a photo of us two together plus our monster pup - it said "I'm dying!"
"What shall I reply to him?" asked my nearest and dearest.
Then I realised anew that a towering brick wall is in front of every atheist at the end of life.
No hope, no future, just annihilation and a supposed full stop confronts them.
Actually, would that it were thus, but it's the devil's deception. What awaits is divine judgement if the soul has rejected salvation.
"Tell him that I'm praying for him", I replied. "But, we're all dying, no one gets out of this life without physical death!"
What happens afterwards is up to each one of us to decide. Will I accept Jesus' free gift of salvation and eternal life or will I turn my back on it?
It really is that simple.
For those that believe in Jesus, death is a doorway to a new, wonderful, eternal existence.
1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT
That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him."
In this life God unwraps a new portion of His loving kindness and tender mercies every morning for those who accept Him.
Even in the midst of tragedy and loss, still the Lord is faithfully watching over us and taking care of us.
This assurance is new every morning.
Have you unwrapped your portion for today?
Thought - pray for those without that blessed Hope in their lives and share your faith.
