2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Recently I changed my server. The old one was becoming virtually impossible to work with - looking at the task manager - the CPU and memory was constantly on 80 and 90 per cent, often freezing, sometimes crashing.

As reluctant as I was, I knew I had to change it, even though I knew it would take a lot of time downloading and installing the many apps that I needed for work.

So a new server was purchased with a new operating system - it took a while but now I'm up and running, it's such an improvement!

On the spiritual side, how long does it take to realise that life is not working with our fallen nature? How long do we have to struggle with selfishness, guilt, shame and anger?

In the verse above we see that, when we come to Jesus, and give our life to Him - all things are made new - a new "operating system" is installed and our old "hard disk" is wiped clean and reformatted.

The old has gone the new has come:

The divine exchange takes place:

Isaiah 61:3 NKJV

To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified."

Ultimately the "Kingdom" of God that has come into our heart will be made manifest in a new Heaven and new Earth.

Revelation 21:5 NKJV

Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."

Then we will have new hardware - new bodies, just like Jesus' resurrected one - eternally young, able to live forever!

What a brilliant future awaits followers of Jesus.
