Removing the curse

Genesis 3:17-19 NKJV

Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': "Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. [18] Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. [19] In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return."

Why the Crown of Thorns on Jesus' head? Ever thought about that?

Before the Fall there were no thorns or sharp thistles to choke the growth of the plants and vegetation - all Creation was perfect under God's blessing.

Because of rebellion the Lord pronounced a curse, making it terribly hard work to farm it and produce food.

So Jesus removed the curse of thorns by wearing it on His head during His Crucifixion. He literally became a curse to remove the curse.

These thorns were brutal, piercing His flesh all over His skull, with unimaginable agony as He writhed, struggling for each breath.

The precious Blood ran down His head, unhindered into His already bludgeoned eyes.

Man of Sorrows, what a Name,

For the Son of God who came

Ruined dinners to reclaim

Hallelujah what a Saviour.

Galatians 3:13-14 NKJV

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"), [14] that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Wonder again at the Passion of Jesus. Six hours on the Cross, removing the curse that you and I are under.

Isaiah 53:3 NKJV

He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
