Solemn promises to Israel

Isaiah 41:8-13 NKJV

"But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, The descendants of Abraham My friend. [9] You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, And called from its farthest regions, And said to you, 'You are My servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away: [10] Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.' [11] "Behold, all those who were incensed against you Shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish. [12] You shall seek them and not find them- Those who contended with you. Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing. [13] For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, 'Fear not, I will help you.'

Often I've taken this word and applied it to my own life. It has been a precious sword to use in many spiritual battles.

But look, this promise is a solemn unbreakable one given first to Israel, because of Abraham, God's friend!

O how I would love to stop the world leaders and have them listen to this scripture. Perhaps then they wouldn't be so given to harassing and condemning Israel at every opportunity.

The Lord has stated plainly that He will stand up for Israel, small and weak though they be.

We can look back and read of the indepence war in 1948, vastly outnumbered and outgunned, but God gave them victory against all the odds.

Then again in 1967, against the might of surrounding nations, led by Nassar, in six days, an incredible victory again - regaining Jerusalem and the Golan.

Nations defy the Lord at their peril.

Let's watch for how this promise unfolds for those who have gathered together against Israel with their condemnations and sanctions.

I watched as the UK's prime minister shuffled nervously next to Donald Trump, trying to justify the sanctions against Israel.

And I read the long pontificating email from my own MP explaining his support for the government.

But all their pompous, self righteous words do not over write the Lord's promises.

Isaiah 41:21-24 NKJV

"Present your case," says the LORD. "Bring forth your strong reasons," says the King of Jacob. [22] "Let them bring forth and show us what will happen; Let them show the former things, what they were, That we may consider them, And know the latter end of them; Or declare to us things to come.
