Psalm 3:2-5 AMPC
Many are saying of me, There is no help for him in God. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! [3] But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. [4] With my voice I cry to the Lord, and He hears and answers me out of His holy hill. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! [5] I lay down and slept; I wakened again, for the Lord sustains me.
It was an entirely new experience for me - to go the whole night through without sleeping!
Previously, even when being ill, I've had some sort of intermittent dozing - not this time - the night seemed like an eternity - tossing and turning - coughing and spluttering.
When dawn came, I was desperate - exhausted and worn out.
Too weak to even pray seriously, I reached out to my praying friends - how wonderful are those ones we can rely on when we're spiritually bankrupt!
I have been sustained by the Lord, as the Psalm says, I lay down and slept. Only now do I realise what a blessing sleep is. It's God's way of renewing and restoring us.

Last night I claimed the Lord's promise:
Psalm 127:2 NKJV
It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.
Song of Solomon 6:3 NKJV
I am my Beloved's, And my Beloved is mine.
Even as the cough threatened to keep me awake, I claimed the sleep promised me by the Lord.
How faithful is God to His Word.
Restorative sleep is the inheritance of those who love the Lord and who are so loved by our blessed Redeemer.
Humbly reach out and claim it!
May His Name be forever reverenced and blessed. I am forever grateful.
Proverbs 3:24 NKJV
When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.
