Psalm 85:8-10 NKJV
I will hear what God the LORD will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly. [9] Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land. [10] Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed.
How fair is forgiveness - how is it right that someone should be forgiven?
I thought about this - if we all stood on our "rights" there would be no forgiveness, we would all be at war one with another.
No, forgiveness is not a matter of fairness, it is a matter of grace and mercy.
It's a heart thing.
Was it right and fair for Jesus to be hung on a cross when He had done no wrong?
Pilate could find no fault in Him. Neither can I!
Yet from that Cross Jesus gave a divine kiss to humanity.
There on the Cross mercy and truth met - rightness and peace embraced and kissed in the face of unimaginable cruelty and hate.
That kiss, that embrace and combination still holds today, right now for anyone who will believe and receive it.
Personally, I crave, desire and desperately need God's forgiveness, that divine kiss of grace to my sin-sick soul.
Yes, I stand before the Lord and let Him kiss me with mercy, grace and forgiveness - may I take it and pass it on - kissing it out to those around me.
Selah
"Mercy there was great and grace was free
Pardon there was multiplied to me
There my burdened soul found liberty
At Calvary"
