1 Peter 3:18-20 NKJV
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, [19] by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, [20] who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
What was Jesus doing after His physical body had died on the Cross, when He gave up His Spirit?
Scripture reveals a hidden sermon that needed to be preached to those long dead - prisoners of their own unbelief during Noah's time, when he was building the ark.
He descended into Hades, the realm of the dead, where demonic prison warders held them captive.
Those evil hordes rejoiced to see Jesus die, but when He paid them a visit in the Power of the Spirit, it was not as a cowering captive, but as a Glorious Liberator, grabbing the keys of death and hell, and leading captivity captive!
He was the only One who could take on the Accuser and silence him and his demonic minions, then set free the captives.
Colossians 2:15 NKJV
Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
How those imprisoned ones must have rejoiced to see His Light pierce the demonic darkness and silence the enemy of their souls.
See the Cross as it is - a magnificent all conquering Victory - man doing his worst, God performing His Ultimate Rescue Plan.
Remember God is always working (it is impossible for Him to do nothing) - with God nothing is impossible!
It may be hidden from our eyes, but God, in Christ Jesus, is always active.
Jeremiah 1:12 AMPC
Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I Am alert and active, watching over My Word to perform it.
Have you prayed and prayed and yet nothing seems to be happening - begin to thank the Lord for His Answer - it IS coming.
