Psalm 19:9 NKJV

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

Psalm 19:9 NLT

Reverence for the LORD is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the LORD are true; each one is fair.

The fear and right reverence of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom

There are all kinds of fears that assault our lives. Mostly fear is a negative thing - fear of the dark, spiders, thunder - fear of failing, rejection, getting old, illness etc.

Many of our fears are irrational and unjustified, but some are real.

Currently, here in the UK, there is a fear of injustice, with the courts and police being weaponised by the government against the preservation of life, silent prayer and Christian values.

However, there is a higher, greater far more positive fear, a revere kind of fear that comes when we recognise the all encompassing majesty, power and ultimate authority of the Lord.

Jesus expresses it like this:

Matthew 10:28 TPT

Don't be in fear of those who can kill only the body but not your soul. Fear only God, who is able to destroy both soul and body in Hell.

We are to reverentially fear God because He is wholly perfect, flawless and pure. His character is clean of any injustice, there is no falsity in Him - not ever, ever!

When He speaks and acts, He is utterly, eternally right.

That's Who each one of us will face when we die and give an account of our lives:

Hebrews 9:27-28 NLT

And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, [28] so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of those who believe. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.

What an awesomely fearful prospect of facing the Lord without trusting in the saving, cleansing power of the Cross of Christ.
