Ephesians 2:1-3 NKJV

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, [2] in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others

What makes us "dead" before we die - trespasses and sins.

What are trespasses? Treading on forbidden ground - Eve was the first to trespass.

She'd been warned that eating of the fruit from the tree in the centre of the Garden of Eden would lead to death, but she was seduced to think that God wasn't serious, but was withholding something special from her. In short, God was lying.

Each of us have followed suit stepping on ground that we know is wrong, but doing it anyway, thinking God isn't serious about the consequences - believing we can get away with it.

Friends, God IS serious!

If I want to see just how serious He is, all I need to do is look at His Son, dying in agony on the Cross of shame, paying the price of forgiveness - yours and mine.

What about sin? It's not doing something which we know is right - to miss the bull's-eye of perfection.

The saying "no one is perfect" is Biblical and absolutely true.

That's why we needed the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world.

The basis of all sin is to deny God His rightful place. Once we do that, anything goes.

If we tell ourselves there's no God, no judgement, no afterlife, then why shouldn't we do exactly what we want - steal, kill and destroy to our heart's content! But none of us want to live in a world with that ethos.

We all want to live in a world where there's respect and harmony, don't we?

That can only happen where the Lord reigns and is given "top spot".

2 Corinthians 3:17 NLT

For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Freedom to do what's right! Freedom to say no to trespassing and no to doing what's wrong.

Why go back to what made us dead, trespasses and sin, when the Spirit of the Lord has freed us?

Stay free in Jesus!

Hallelujah!
