Unreachably unwilling!

John 5:39-40,43 NKJV

You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. [40] But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. [43] I have come in My Father's Name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.

Jesus speaks to the religious leaders of His time and also for the time to come.

He'd just healed a guy who'd been disabled for 38 years, lying in wait for someone to put him into the mystical stirring of waters.

The only snag was that this healing happened on a Sabbath.

Those leaders were so angry at this breaching of religious tradition, that they wanted to kill Jesus!

Let that sink in - murderous thoughts ferment in the hearts of the religious!

Jesus has no time for empty religion:

John 5:42 NKJV

But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.

If they'd had any sort of love in them, they would've rejoiced at this miraculous healing. Yet instead they sought to kill the Healer.

Today there is a march of dark religions, unwilling to hear or receive the Truth. There's no love in the hearts of their leaders, indeed, there are murderous aspirations and teachings.

They have become unreachably unwilling to receive Jesus.

God forbid that anyone should become so hard hearted.

Interestingly, here Jesus makes a prophecy about a future one who will come in his own name. At that point the religious leaders will accept him.

There is a coming antichrist who will seduce and deceive all the the world into submission.

Revelation 13:8 NKJV

All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Don't become so unwilling to receive Jesus that you make yourself unreachable, only to be taken in and enslaved by the antichrist!

Revelation 13:16-17 NKJV

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, [17] and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
