John 15:4-5 AMPC

Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me. [5] I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.

The words "vitally united" sprang to mind, were lit up in my soul this morning.

I wasn't reading this passage, but was feeling a bit disconnected from The Vine over the last few days.

Then it came, an unction, a still inner voice: "Stay vitally united to Jesus. Don't get diverted or distracted."

I had been both!

Instead of "vitally united" I had been "virtually untied"! Like a mobile battery slowly losing its charge, I need to be reconnected to the "power source".

"Busy-ness" is the enemy of the soul. Nothing is savoured, everything is done without contemplation at breakneck speed.

"Without Me", Jesus said, "you can do nothing." And that's what I'd been doing and achieving - nothing!

I'd lost my peace, my true north, and left my heart unguarded.

A good friend asked a couple of questions that put me back on the right track.

"Have you covered that situation with the Blood of Jesus? What does the Lord say about that?"

I hadn't prayed the first and hence couldn't discern what the Holy Spirit had to say.

Satan wants us busy and engaged with many issues in order to get us disconnected and there are so many and varied ways to achieve that today.

Proverbs 4:23 AMPC

Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.

Forgive me, Lord Jesus, for being virtually untied instead of vitally united to You. Cover me with Your Holy Blood and reconnect me to Your Vine. I want to hear Your Voice and follow You.

Isaiah 26:3 NLT

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You!
