Hebrews 12:22-25 NLT
No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering. [23] You have come to the assembly of God's firstborn children, whose names are written in Heaven. You have come to God Himself, who is the Judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in Heaven who have now been made perfect. [24] You have come to Jesus, the One who mediates the New Covenant between God and people, and to His sprinkled Blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel. [25] Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from Heaven!
What a picture this passage paints - we are encouraged to visualise the heavenly city in our mind's eye.
Yesterday I was playing with an AI app that generates a photo of whatever you can describe (it only takes a few moments and hey presto - there on the screen is a multicoloured image) - fascinating!
Whatever attempt we can make with our earthly imaginations, beit AI or by ourselves, Heaven is far greater, more joyful, more incredible than that!
It's so amazing to know that, on arrival there, we will be made perfect - no more horrid rough edges of our personalities, no more impatience or hot-headedness, "flying off the handle", or seething with pent up rage - "made perfect" by our precious Saviour!
There His Blood constantly speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for revenge - sounds too good to be true - yet it's too good not to be true.
The Bible says it, we must believe it.
So, however rough the road is down here, we have a wonderful eternity awaiting us - no invading force can rip it away - it is far from the reach of the evil forces - defeated forces.
In the same way that Hamas tries to give the illusion of victory as they release those poor hostages, they are in the throes of defeat - surrounded by ruins.
Colossians 2:15 NKJV
Having disarmed principalities and powers, He (Jesus) made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
Remember what and Who you have come to throughout this day - see you there!
