Depending on mercy

Psalm 136:1-3 NKJV

Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. [2] Oh, give thanks to the God of gods! For His mercy endures forever. [3] Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords! For His mercy endures forever

This Psalm is one of my favourites. Yes, it's very repetitive. But us stupid ones need it rammed into our thick heads, lest we think we deserve God's favour. We don't!

The very best we can do is depend on the mercy of God and pass it on.

"Blessed are the merciful", says Jesus, "for they shall obtain mercy" Matthew 5:7

How often have I been my own roadblock to receiving God's mercy because I've failed to be merciful!

Answer: countless times!

Once I remove those selfish roadblocks, the dammed up mercy of the Lord flows over me again.

From start to finish we depend on mercy.

From the first sinner's prayer at the foot of the Cross of Jesus to our dying breath, mercy is the lifeblood of our walk as followers of the Master.

Psalm 136:26 NKJV

Oh, give thanks to the God of Heaven! For His mercy endures forever.
