Raging nations!

Psalm 2:1-12 NKJV

Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? [2] The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, [3] "Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us." [4] He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. [5] Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure: [6] "Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion." [7] "I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. [8] Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession. [9] You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel.'" [10] Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. [11] Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling. [12] Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

Yesterday I watched a newscast of what was happening on the streets of Iran. The conflict and unrest was palpable, just as described in this Psalm.

Iran's leaders are raging and plotting, the people are attempting to throw off the constraints of radical Islam.

All round the world we see similar conflicts - even in the UK - the dissent is rising internally and there is talk of civil war and uprising against a government deaf to its population.

We (humanity) are trying to run our lives without God - a fatal mistake - historically, the first mistake ever made!

What is God's response to our puny attempts to ignore Him and reject Him from our governments and laws?

He laughs! (See verse 4 above).

Like it or not, He is going to install His King in Zion. Jesus, the Messiah, is destined to rule the nations from Jerusalem - it is written!

Perhaps that is why such hatred is being poured out on Christians who support Israel - we are being called "Zio's" - a disparaging name for Zionists.

These raging ones will be fatally broken unless they "kiss the Son".

At present we have a choice to accept or reject Jesus' Kingdom, but, when He returns, that choice will be over.

He will smash the ancient rebellion when He comes to reign forever.

Make the choice NOW to serve the Lord Jesus, it is the wise choice, the blest choice for life.

How great to be on the right side of His Story!
